11.2.12

This is me.

It was actually several months ago when I received an email from Jocee, asking if I would like to help her with a project, which, at the time, went by the name Myriad of Memories. I simply could not believe that she wanted me to help her. Because after all, I'm not some huge blogger with fifteen zillion followers and a picture-perfect life. I'm just ordinary... but then again, I guess we both are. The project waned and was put to rest until a couple of months ago when I got another email after Jocee's burst of inspiration. The team was made, our name was changed to An Ordinary Utopia, and we simply couldn't contain our excitement. We decided what we wanted this project to be, and after countless emails, planning, and brainstorming inspiration, it finally took off. And we hope that you will enjoy this quest as much as we are excited to share it with you. So come as you are and join us on an adventure to every corner of simple, beautiful, ordinary life. Here we value creativity, honesty, and the little things in life. This is a place where you can be yourself-- where we are coming out from behind the curtain to give you the honest (and sometimes imperfect) truth. So put on your coziest sweater, pour a cup of tea, and join us in discovering an ordinary utopia.

Hi there, I'm Lindsey. But you could also call me Lou. Who am I? Well, this is me:

But I'm more than my picture, so let me expound a little bit.
I'm one of three children in a family of five, plus a dog and a cat-- I love my family. My siblings include my brother, Cameron who is one of my best friends, and my sister, Libby, who is also one of my best friends. And I have amazing parents who are just plain wonderful.
I'm home schooled and have been for most of my life. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

When I'm not doing school work by the fireplace or on my bedroom floor, I'm usually creating something. Whether It's a pair of cozy socks, a song on the piano, or a piece of artwork, it brings me joy. To be able to use what God has given me and make something beautiful out of it is such a gift, and I relish it every day.

When I'm not busy with these things (or even when I am) you can find me taking pictures obsessively. I try to capture every moment I can, and have no trouble filling up an 8GB memory card. Probably the thing I love most about photography is that since I got behind a camera, I've never really seen things the same way. I've learned to see a different way, and through these eyes, I can now see beauty in everything. From a drop of water on a leaf to a patch of moss on a rock-- or even seemingly ugly things, like dead leaves or mud puddles-- it's all beautiful to me!

Now that I've rambled about the joys of photography, I'll move on. :)
Here are just a few random facts about me:

>> I love pretty much anything vintage <<
>> Cute, unique clothes are what I like to wear, but at home sometimes comfy just wins out over cute. <<
>> I've got a mouthful of sweet teeth and a deadly weakness for cookies <<
>> I'm a dreamer <<
>> To me, snail mail (or letters of any sort) are the cat's pajamas. Seriously. I have boxes full of probably over 300 letters, and if I had to save one thing in a fire, that's what I'd grab. <<
>> I love adventures. Even if they're just ordinary ones <<

But more than all of these things I have mentioned, I love my savior, Jesus Christ. Because without Him I would have no purpose. He is the reason I do everything. I strive to glorify Him in all that I do, and I hope that I will accomplish this in my time writing here.

Stick around for a while, why don't you?

xo,
