summertime fruit

you have to agree, peaches are, really and truthfully, the fruit of summer. they represent warm sunny days on the back porch, evenings spent together with family and friends, and Frisbee playing in the backyard. at least, they do to me.
crazy how something so simple could hold so many memories of summers gone by and hopes for the summers to come.

over here popcorn is a staple snack.  we make it at least once a day.  m&ms and sweet tea are a must with popcorn, and popcorn is a must with movies, and movies happen a lot.
it's not unusual to hear the pop pop pop in the microwave at multiple hours during the day.
what's your/your family's go-to snack?

blackberry love

blackberries.
i love them.
a lot.
blackberries can always make me happy. they're like little bits of comfort in a package that you can buy at the store. i could seriously eat them all day. and i tried, but my mom told me to save some for tomorrow.
what's one little thing that can always manage to make you happy?

hey, cupcake.

well, hello, darling.
you look absolutely delicious.
with your white lining and your multi-colored top,
it's just so hard not to eat you all up.
i'm ever-so glad i scored you after swim practice,
you know how everyone else is so greedy when it comes to you.
but i? no i'm different. i'll treat you like a queen.
because that's what you deserve, no?
i'll peel away the paper,
then lick away all your vanilla icing,
and nibble on the red and orange sprinkles.
and then i'll take a bite and float out of my body and hover around on the ceiling.
i like the fact that you're cake in cup form.
i like the fact that you taste yummy.
like Jesus came down to earth and blessed you Himself.
and when i take the last bite,
my tongue is a symphony of different tastes.
mostly sweet, because that's what you are.
and i'm glad that God created you to be a cupcake.

Snow Ice Cream

When I was little, one of my favorite things when it snowed was making snow ice cream. We always had to make sure to get the snow directly after the snowfall, though, because multiple times it was cluttered with dirt or covered in footprints. Since it snowed yesterday afternoon and the forecast for tomorrow read 63, I figured this was the last chance for snow ice cream. My little sister was happy to help in the preparations.

INGREDIENTS:
Milk
Sugar
Vinilla
Sprinkles [optional]
1. Gather a bowl of snow. [WARNING: yellow snow is bad. So is dirty snow]
2. Pour enough milk in to make it a bit soupy.
3. Add vanilla and sugar according to taste.
4. Add sprinkles if you'd like.

5. Enjoy!

Have you ever made snow ice cream?

30 year old pudding cake.

My dad often talks about this thing that he loved as a kid called Pudding Cake. They don't make it anymore and he's been searching for a pudding cake recipe for a long time. My mom even tried to make some for his birthday, but it didn't turn out like the old stuff he had as a kid.

But one day he came home with two boxes of the cake mix saying he found some at Grandma's house. I was like "nuh uh. he's not going to eat that stuff, it's like thirty years old."

But I was wrong. He was going to go ahead and eat it anyway.

We both stayed up until 10:05 p.m. making it. I was the photographer, documenting the process and he was the baker.

He hasn't eaten it yet, but he will. Trust me. I just really hope he doesn't get sick.
