this is my newest camera. one that I'm not even sure works. it was a $1.75 at the thrift store, and as soon as I saw it I knew it was mine. maybe one day I'll buy some film and try it out. when I got home that day, I sat on my bed figuring out all the awesome stuff about it - where the film goes, how to change the flash, how to push the shutter. things have changed so much since then. if a photo doesn't turn out, you can simply delete and try again. though digital allows me to do so many things, sometimes I wish we all had film cameras. the concentration that goes in getting that shot - you only have a few, the anticipation in waiting for the film to be made, and the thrill of looking at the aftermath. though that way is longer, more tedious, and, I know, at times much of a nuisance. but something about old fashioned and cameras makes me wish I could experience it.

xo,

  1. i love the camera! it's amazing how you can find these little lovelies for less than two dollars! there isn't a single thrift store like that from where i am! everything - overpriced! i hope you have fun with it ;) but i am most certain that you will :)

  2. Wow! I so wish I could find a thrift store with cameras like that. I was at the thrift store near us looking for a vintage camera last week, but all they had were old, but not old enough to be vintage if you know what I mean :)

  3. I've been looking for vintage film cameras at thrift stores and garage sales but I haven't found any yet. Yours is lovely! :) And I know exactly what you mean. I've had the chance to shoot and develop my own film, and it's more rewarding that digital. Developing the film, and working to make the perfect print is just amazing.

  4. Your polaroid is really cute. I've got a brownie and it is really sweet. It's so much fun finding the place to roll the film up and then listening to that little snap go...

  6. i think that the digital age has stolen something from us kids - the ability to work hard for something, and therefore cherish it more. like you were saying with this, back then, they couldn't just delete their 100's of tried, and keep the one. they had to work hard to get that one good shot the first time.

anyway, congrats on the newest member of your camera family, and good luck!
