Coffee Shop Talk

I love sitting in Starbucks. I love the feeling that coffee shops have, this eclectic aura of jazzy tunes and folksy beats and organic appeal. I believe that coffee shops do more good than therapists because they reveal inner truths without asking any questions.

I was sitting with my friend Alex the other day over a hazelnut macchiato and I was eaves dropping, somewhat subconsciously, on people's conversations around me. A pair of twenty-something guys behind me trying to discuss the ins and outs of their relationships or lack thereof, a father and daughter to my right on a date, just talking. Even the baristas and the way they banter back and fourth with customers and with one another.

There's something nice about listening to people talk freely. Something really beautiful about the transparency that likes to happen in coffee shops. That's why I say that coffee shops do more good than therapists. They reveal inner truths without asking any questions.

Love always,
Bleah

  1. Would you believe me if I said I've never stepped into a coffee shop? It's not that I don't want to, just that my family finds it way too expensive, which, if I'm being honest, $4 for a cup of coffee does seem to be a lot. ;)
But I love the aura of coffee shops based on what everyone describes it as. Maybe sometime this year I'll find myself in one.

    1. That's so hard for me to believe... and yes, they are a bit pricey. But honestly a simple cup of coffee is only a dollar fifty... it's the fancy stuff that's more. But I can usually get a good satisfying latte or something marvelous for less than 5 dollars, and it's really the atmosphere that's perfect. You have to go. And when you do let me know so I can assist you in what to get ;)

    2. Plus, if it's only the price that's stopping you, buy a scone or something less pricey and enjoy the therapy :)

  6. i do the same thing. i love listening to the sounds of people talking...the words kind of go out of my ear's focus and it's just the hum, the essential sound of speech, that i hear. and it's comforting somehow.
